Verity Family Black-bellied Plover

Good and all original paint on this black-bellied plover attributed to a member of the Verity family (Seaford, NY) ca. 1880s. This decoy was found in a home in Seaford in the 1930s-40s and has remained in the family since. Wonderful warm patina and branded AC on the bottom. Under black light there is a seam of glue visible where it appears the head was broken and reattached. There is a small nail in the back of the neck. There is also a seam of glue visible where the bill is inserted into the head. It is unknown if the bill is an early replacement. Measures 9” from the top of the head to tip of the tail. Stand not included.
