John Tornberg Bluebill Pair

Very rare, hollow carved redwood, bluebill pair by one of the most collectible of the San Francisco Bay makers, John Tornberg (Mill Valley, CA) ca. 1945. Paint appears to be worn but mostly original with some very old in use repaint. As is stated on page 371 of Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller, these bluebills are likely original Tornberg bodies and Fresh Air Dick Janson heads that Tornberg reshaped. The original custom weights are attached. These were originally collected directly from the Tornberg family. Each measures approximately 14” in length.
