Jack Crowell Wigeon Pair

$995.00

Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller identifies the rig of 30 pintails by this maker as the "Otto Loat Rig" of Alameda, CA. Since the book was published additional research has identified the stylish, hollow carved pintails as being the work of Jack Crowell (San Leandro, CA) circa 1950s. The book only identifies pintails as being made by the maker. These wigeon are the only examples of other species I’ve seen. Many of the pintails are branded "JC" on the bottom as is this wigeon drake. Crowell hunted the Tule Bell Duck Club in the Suisun Marsh. Only 30 examples of pintails are known by this maker. Again, these are the only other species to have surfaced. Good original paint. Both measure approximately 13” in length.
