Horace "Hi" Crandall Mallard Drake

Nearly mint mallard drake by Horace “Hi” Crandall (Westwood, CA) ca. 1930s. Based on the pristine condition, I don’t believe this example ever saw field use. Page 578 of Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller states “Hi Crandall was one of California’s premier decoy carvers and perhaps it’s best painter…”. This is, by a large margin, the best example by this collectible maker I’ve ever offered. Note the small tail chip at the tip. Measures 16” in length.
