Certainly the best pair of pintails I’ve ever offered by Herman August “Junky” Fuhrmann (Berkeley, CA) ca. 1939. Constructed of cork on redwood board with inserted boxwood for the drakes tail and raised wingtips on both. Likely rig mates in good and all original paint. The hen is in a slight swimming posture and the drake is quite forward reaching creating an appealing life-like design. The drake measures 21.5” in length and the hen is 16”. Note the areas of chipped cork on the hen (back behind the head and under the tail area). See page 259 of Wildfowl Decoys of California by Michael Miller for additional information on this interesting and early California maker.
