Fredrick Cutting Green-Winged Teal

Solid carved redwood green-winged teal drake by one of the earliest California decoy makers, Fred Cutting (Sacramento, CA) circa 1880s. Cutting had many occupations. However, he took three months off every year and followed the central valley migration, using his decoys and supplying waterfowl to the San Francisco markets prior to the 1906 earthquake. This example is in old working repaint and measures a mere 10” in length. A true piece of early California sporting history. There appears to be an old repair to the bill.
