Excellent Scott Pintail Pair

Only a couple of very minor rubs keep this pair from being "mint".  A rigmate pair of nearly mint pintails by the Scott Cork Decoy Company, Stockton, CA, C. 1950's.  The anchors are original Scott as well.  The west coast or factory collector would be hard pressed to find a better pair of Scott pintails.  Price: $250

Nice original paint pintail drake by the Nicky Decoy Company (Fairfield, California), C. 1930's.  There is some paint loss on the chest and wear on the tail.  Ink stamped "Nicky DecoyNo. 29993" on the bottom.  Palm frond body with Herter's pine head.  See page 262-263 of North American Factory Decoys by Trayer as well as 313-314 of Widlfowl Decoys of the Pacific Coast by Miller and Hanson.  Price: $200

This exact pair of Martin Humphrys (San Francisco, CA) canvasbacks, c. 1925 are shown in figure 7.182 of Wildfowl Decoys of the Pacific Coast by Miller and Hanson.  The hen is in good original paint and the drake appears to have been taken down to mostly original paint.  Another rare pair of early California decoys.  Price: $950 $850

Tom Dailey Canvasback Pair

Dailey decoys are among the earliest of any California decoy.  Many date to the turn of the century.  This pair of canvasbacks was purchased from Dailey himself in 1926.  The paint is old working and is c. 1940's.  The original shoe button eyes are intact.  Great historical pair of California decoys.  See Wildfowl Decoys of the Pacific Coast, page 191, Decoy Magazine March/April 1996 and The Great Book of Wildfowl Decoys, page 267.  Price: $600

Frank Willis Canvasback

A 2/3 size (12" in length) canvasback drake by Frank Willis of Redwood City, CA, c. 1960's.  Branded "FW" and signed by the maker.  Slightly turned head, carved shoulders and excellent paint detail.  See the July/August 2009 issue of Decoy Magazine for a great article on Frank Willis (1918-1997) by Paul Mazzilli.  Willis decoys are not easy to come by.  This one is a special order as his brochure did not indicate canvasback as an option in the 2/3 size model.  A very stylish California decoy.  Price: $150
