Bill Neal Canada Goose
A very nicely done, full-sized (22" in length),
hollow carved, canada goose by William Neal (Black Point, CA) circa 1980's. Never rigged or used. One of only
12 made. Two tight stable hairline cracks in the neck. Bill Neal's work is discussed in detail on pages 175-177

Frank Vitale Green-winged Teal
Frank Vitale Senior green-winged teal drake in original
paint. The head is loose and the underside of the bill bears the carved "V". 12.5" in length.
Vitale was a market hunter and commercial fisherman running on the Sacramento River. This is an early solid redwood
bodied teal circa 1930's. See pages 293-294 of Wildfowl Decoys of the Pacific Coast by Miller and Hanson.

Canada Goose Painted by Ed Snyder
Here's a cool old Canada Goose by an unknown San
Francisco Bay Area maker. Probably circa 1950's or 60's. Solid balsa body with pine head. Excellent
original paint by Ed Snyder (Rio Vista, CA). Snyder recently authenticated his paint and estimated it to be circa 1970.
Signed on the bottom "Painted by Ed Snyder, 1970". Ed Snyder's early work is highly collectable.

circa 1940. Paint appears mostly original. Stylish carving with raised wings, tail and turned head. Beautiful
comb painting on the back. Excellent craftsmanship in this rarely found California decoy. Tail has been replaced.

1947. Carved by Bill Sewell 1918-. Oakland, CA (now lives in Plesant Hill). Graduated from Oakland
Tech High School 1937. Carved these decoys when living in Oakland. His occupation: A surveyor working around Black
Point and Navato. These decoys were hunted on the Petaluma River near where it empties into the San Pablo Bay.
